The Crucifixion - He has given us a Chance
If you have never read a description or eyewitness account of the Crucifixion of Jesus, here is one to strongly consider listening to. Jesus has given us a chance, and he did it through his death and the shedding of his blood. He did it for you and I.
One question I fail to take away from the Crucifixion, and I have heard and studied it many times, is what motivation does it take for an individual to make a decision like this? Why would the Master of all even bother to do this? To be killed and tortured on behalf of those who never really cared enough to even bother to consider what his interest is for us or why?
To put the answer under the blanket response “because he loves us” is not good enough.
The closest to a real-life account I have found, as opposed to being there and witnessing this event, is the description of Anne Catherine Emmerich. It is claimed that some of the material used in the Passion of the Christ by Mel Gibson was taken from Emmerich’s visions. An article describing this can be viewed here. There are nine readings from Emmerich below, and they may be lengthy, but I encourage you to listen to all of them, for I believe you will have a different perspective on the Crucifixion when you have completed them all.
